Steven Strait and Dominique Tipper star in Syfy series The Expanse as ice haulers Jim Holden and Naomi Nagata, who get caught up in interplanetary politics, conspiracies, and genocide. Ahead of the two-hour season 2 premiere, Strait and Tipper met Rotten Tomatoes at The Shop at NBC Studios in New York to talk about the new season and their characters’ complicated on-screen romance — a conversation made even more adorkable set against a wall of stuffed animals.

The Expanse season 2 premieres Wednesday, February 1 at 10 p.m. on Syfy
