Trailer Bulletin: Horton Hears a Who

Now THIS is what a Seuss movie looks like...

The last few times somebody tried to turn Dr. Seuss into a movie, the results were … How the Grinch Stole Christmas and (dear lord) The Cat in the Hat. And then somebody got the brilliant idea to do Seuss with animation.

And here’s the very cute little trailer for Fox’s Horton Hears a Who, which doesn’t open until next March but (in my opinion) looks precisely like a Dr. Seuss movie should look. The lead voices are Jim Carrey and Steve Carell, but the supporting cast is also pretty excellent: Isla Fisher, Will Arnett, Amy Poehler, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Carol Burnett, Dane Cook, Jaime Pressly… a little something for everyone, basically.

The directors are former Pixar animator Jimmy Hayward and Robots art director Steve Martino. Adapting Seuss’ classic tale into movie form are Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul, the team that gave you Santa Clause 2 and, er, Bubble Boy. The plot is … well, if you never read Horton Hears a Who when you were a kid, then maybe you should see the movie completely fresh. Or better yet, pretend you’re a kid and go get the book.
