The New York Film Critics Circle announced the winners of their 2019 awards this morning on Twitter. Spike Lee’s Vietnam War movie the Da 5 Bloods took home multiple honors, nabbing awards for Best Supporting Actor for Chadwick Boseman, Best Lead Actor for Delroy Lindo, and a special award for Director Spike Lee. A24’s First Cow took home the top honor of Best Film, Eliza Hittman’s Never Rarely Sometimes Always was the critics’ pick for Best Screenplay and Best Actress, and NYC Film School alum Chloé Zhao was their pick for Best Director, marking the first time female filmmakers sweep the top three awards at NYFCC.

The NYFCC Awards are chosen by a group of critics from daily newspapers, weekly newspapers, magazines, and qualifying online general-interest publications. Last year, The Irishman was the only film to garner multiple honors, nabbing awards for Best Supporting Actor for Joe Pesci and the main prize, Best Picture.
